 Špotáková  confirms Helsinki 2012 plans to set up probable battle with Abakumova

Czech Republic's 2008 Olympic Games javelin champion and world record holder Barbora Špotáková was among the Prague delegation which successfully convinced the European Athletics Council that the 2015 European Athletics Indoor Championships should be held in the city.

Špotáková also revealed over the weekend that while she may not be able to compete in that championship, at least not in her specialist discipline although she was fourth in the 2000 World Junior Championships heptathlon before concentrating her energies on the javelin and so might have some other options open to her, she will definitely be in Helsinki this summer.

Kenya: Yego Confirmed for London Olympics (May 8, 2012)

Nairobi — All Africa Games champion, Julius Yego will become the first Kenyan Javelin thrower to compete at an Olympics in London this summer.

The National Olympics Committee-Kenya (Nock) confirmed on Tuesday that 'YouTube man' Yego has been accepted by world athletics governing IAAF to compete at the event that runs from July 27 to August 12 despite qualifying with B-Standard.

"Kenya is classified as one of the countries that must qualify its athletes through category A in almost all disciplines and we do not enjoy the privilege of athletes represent this country under category B," Nock Executive Officer, Stephen arap Soi, announced in Nairobi.

In this Javelin Throw Magazine exclusive, we learn that at the heart of Kenya’s emerging elite athletes is a man who is already ahead of his time when it comes to winning big-time competitions.  Yego began throwing javelin in Kenya during a time in his life when most teenagers would be exchanging text messages with friends or hanging out in internet social media chat rooms.
